Sclerosis (Amnesia: The Dark Descent VR remake)

Overview

Sclerosis is a hobbyist VR remake of Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Frictional Games, 2010) by CreaTeam: a 1:1 recreation of the entire game on the Unity engine, running standalone on Meta Quest. Controls are redesigned for VR controllers — open doors, pull levers and turn valves as if Daniel's hands were your own.

Extra modes:

• Safe Mode — monsters are removed (and the events tied to them are cut); the lantern does not consume oil.
• PSX Mode — graphics and music restyled to a PlayStation 1 aesthetic.

[!NOTE] Sclerosis does not include any game data. You must own a legal copy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and copy its files to the headset. Not affiliated with Frictional Games.

Prerequisites

1. Meta Quest 2 or Quest 3 in Developer Mode (Quest 2 support was added in v1.9.9).
2. Your own copy of Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Steam or any other store).
3. SideQuest (or ADB) on a PC.
4. Free space on the headset: the APK alone is ~964 MB, plus the original game files.

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Install the APK

Download Sclerosis_v1.10.7.apk from CreaTeam's itch.io page and install it with SideQuest, or:

adb install -r Sclerosis_v1.10.7.apk

2. Get the original game files

Install Amnesia: The Dark Descent on your PC from Steam (or any other store).

3. Copy the game files to the headset

Copy the downloaded files of the original game to the root of the headset's internal storage (/sdcard/), e.g. via SideQuest's file manager or adb push.

4. Play

Launch Sclerosis from App Library → Unknown Sources.

PC version

The same itch.io page also offers a Windows build (Sclerosis_v1.10.7.zip): place its files in the folder containing Amnesia.exe / AmnesiaGW.exe and run Sclerosis.exe.
